Product Selection
ASG provides assistance to emergency responders in
selecting viable products to sense hazards, protect
responders, and manage the consequences of disasters.
Many vendors sell products which do not meet national or
independent standards; these products could endanger
emergency responders during response to CBRNE incidents.
Additionally, lessons learned from the 9-11 responses
revealed that much of the protective equipment used was not
interoperable. ASG can evaluate, test, and provide sound
recommendations for emergency responders and military
personnel to ensure homeland security funds are utilized
appropriately. ASG considers the entire community response
environment, detection objectives, and protection requirements
when selecting response equipment.


Equipment Procurement
ASG can assist emergency responders with the daunting task
of procuring interoperable equipment that meets the
customer's requirements as well as managing the sustainment
tail. Recently, 60 Minutes revealed that in one city, emergency
responders procured decontamination units without
considering the logistics tail such as training and resupply.  
ASG staff are well versed in the response community's
requirements and the extensive logistics tail that is often
overlooked. ASG can alleviate the logistics headaches and
ensures that its customer's programs are "60 Minutes-Proof."  

Many agencies were provided with excessive funding and were
expected to immediately react to the changing political
environment by procuring whatever response equipment that
was available. ASG can help assemble the pieces by
developing a get-well plan, assisting with grant proposals, and
enhancing the overall response program. ASG can also
ensure interoperability among various response functions.
